Dr. Markus Martin first earned a BA in sociology and anthropology from the University of Manitoba before going on to obtain a BSc with honours in biochemistry from McGill University, where he continued to study for his MD. He did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the McGill University Health Centre. He also has a Diploma in Management (Health Care) from McGill.

He is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and of Oncology at McGill, as well as a clinician at the Jewish General Hospital, while also maintaining a private practice.

Dr. Martin is very active in the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). He is currently the Quebec Section Fellow Chair and, since 1997, has been a Voluntary Review of Quality of Care (VRQC) peer consultation reviewer. He sits on the Provincial Council of Quebec’s College des medecins and of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Quebec. He is currently a member of the National Council of the Medical Council of Canada, and a past member of the National Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. 
 
Major Research Activities
 
Dr. Martin’s current research activities focus mostly on medical education. He has presented and submitted abstracts on cognitive competence in obstetrics-gynecology residents which have been published by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada and by the Association for Medical Education in Europe.
