Dr. Vicky Tagalakis’ research program theme is in venous thromboembolism (VTE) with a focus in population level epidemiologic studies to address prognosis, etiologic risk factors and management of thrombotic disorders, with an added focus on cancer related thrombotic disorders. Her program focuses on leveraging large scale healthcare administrative databases to conduct population-based studies on quality of care and effectiveness related to the management of VTE and is based on the use of pharmacoepidemiology methodology to address effects.

Major Research Activities

Dr. Vicky Tagalakis’ research program theme is in venous thromboembolism (VTE) with a focus in population level epidemiologic studies to address prognosis, etiologic risk factors and management of thrombotic disorders, with an added focus on cancer related thrombotic disorders. Some key focus areas include:

  • Management of thrombotic disorders in patients with cancer;
  • Use of anticoagulants in women with thrombosis;
  • Use of anticoagulants in patients with advanced renal disease.
