Professor Laurent Azoulay has an active research program in cancer pharmacoepidemiology.
Professor Azoulay is the recipient of Chercheur-Boursier de mérite from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé and William Dawson Scholar award from McGill University.
Professor Laurent Azoulay’s research program is in cancer pharmacoepidemiology. This program aims to provide much-needed information on the long-term effects of commonly prescribed drugs on the incidence of cancer, as well as to assess the safety of cancer treatments in the real-world setting. His research interests include assessing the effectiveness and safety of antihyperglycemic drugs in type 2 diabetes, hypertension, polycystic ovary syndrome, and breast and prostate cancer.
By harnessing the power of large electronic patient databases, Professor Azoulay’s research team has made significant contributions, with their work, which has been featured in prestigious publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and the British Medical Journal. Moreover, their findings have appeared in leading specialty journals, including Diabetes Care, Gut, and Circulation. To date, Professor Azoulay has provided guidance and mentorship to more than 40 national and international trainees.
