Snapshot

I conduct participatory, mixed method ethnographic research to implement and evaluate initiatives co-created with communities related to mental health, including social determinants of health. I use narrative, immersive, and critical phenomenological approaches to understand what matters to persons from their 1st-person perspectives and in their own terms.

Major Research Activities

The specific research areas in the laboratory include:

  • Transformative process and-or active ingredients in clinical encounters, system change, and community initiatives for health equity.
  • Mental health related concerns from multiple, 1st-person perspectives (i.e., health and social professionals and those with whom they work).
  • Participatory, patient and public involvement (PPI), and SPOR.
