Full-time Research Assistant

Full-time Study Coordinator

Dr. April Rose’s lab at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research is seeking a full-time Research assistant to carry out a CIHR-funded research program aimed at interrogating the role of mutant NRAS in modulating immunotherapy response in melanoma.   

The main job responsibilities include: performing cell culture, including co-culture systems with immune cells and cancer cells; interrogating changes in gene and protein expression and cell function. Additionally, the hired research assistant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining animal use protocols and other administrative tasks as well performing in vivo experiments in mouse model systems. The research assistant will be responsible for diligent record keeping of experimental methodologic details and results, contributing to manuscript writing, and teaching experimental techniques and analysis to students in the lab.

The ideal candidate holds a minimum of a Master’s in Experimental Medicine or related field and has experience working with cancer cells and immune cells in cell culture as well as with standard molecular biology techniques: immunoblotting, transfection, qRT-PCR, RNAseq, microscopy.

Salary: According to the LDI HR policy
Hours: Full time position. Monday to Friday

Full-time Research Associate

Full-time Study Coordinator

The Richards’ lab of McGill University is seeking a Research Associate to assist in the creation and management of a research program to improve clinical care through the use of computational genomics. The job will take place at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research of the Jewish General Hospital, a McGill University teaching hospital. The Research Associate will manage and execute multiple computational genomics research studies, including but not limited to: Developing bioinformatic, data science and computational methods to improve genetic risk scores to predict disease; Using these methods to generate genetic risk scores to identify individuals at risk for disease; Applying methods to identify genetic determinants of disease; and undertaking quality control and processing of large-scale genetics data.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in genetics, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics or computational biology, and has experience in analysis of large-scale cohorts, such as UK Biobank; working in an HPC environment and in cloud computing, with data analysis expertise in R and/or Python.

Salary: Salary Scale is $75,000-$110,000 depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week

Full-time Research Assistant

Full-time Study Coordinator

The (Developmental Research in Early Adversity Mental health BIological susceptibility and Gender (DREAM BIG) consortium, led by Dr Ashley Wazana at the lady Davis institute – Jewish General Hospital,  is seeking a dynamic individual with a Developmental Neuroscience (genetics, neuroimaging) background who is well versed in large-scale statistical modelling. The position’s primary role is data analysis of the DREAM BIG database. The successful applicant will also be involved in manuscript and grant preparation. 

The ideal candidate holds a MA/MSc or higher in neuroscience developmental or clinical psychology, or a related degree in social and behavioral or health sciences; has knowledge of advanced statistical modelling using R, MATLAB, Phyton, SPSS, SAS; and has  experience with genetic and/or neuroimaging.

Salary: $50,000 – $80,000/annually in accordance with qualifications and experience (plus benefits)
Hours: 35 hours per week — Flexible working hours with both in-person (Centre for Child Development and Mental Health at the Lady Davis Institute – Jewish General Hospital) and remote working conditions with a significant level of autonomy.

Under the responsibility of the Human Resources Supervisor of the Lady-Davis Institute for Medical Research, the candidate will have the task of on-boarding new personnel (employees and trainees) as well as changes, terminations and leave of absence requisitions. The candidate will be expected to aid researchers in gathering various documents in order to create an employee or trainee file onto the LDI-HR Database. The candidate will be responsible for gathering information required by funding agencies, universities, etc.  The candidate will also act as a liaison with Health Services and Payroll Department.

The ideal candidate holds a College (DEC) studies in administrative field (preferred) and has excellent secretarial skills, including a strong working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Part-time or full-time Research Laboratory Manager

Full-time Study Coordinator

The Research Lab Manager will play a key role in managing the general function of the laboratory. They may contribute to basic wet lab (preclinical studies/models, cell culture) and dry lab (cancer genomics and pathology) studies. Through these contributions, the Research Lab Manager will gain experience in the conduct of biomedical studies as well as participatory research with collaborators. Duties include entering data in ATiM software and preparing regular reports on biobank specimens; keeping the laboratory inventory updated and ordering supplies; the general organization of lab equipment/supplies and preparation of reagents as needed; and organizing meetings with minutes.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s of Science or Master’s of Science in biomedical research and has essential wet lab skills such as cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein isolation.

Full-time Clinical Research Coordinator/Research assistant

Full-time Study Coordinator

Under the direction of Dr. Vicky Tagalakis and thrombosis clinical researchers Drs. Hirsch, Kahn and Simard, at the Centre of Excellence in Thrombosis and Anticoagulation Care (CETAC) of the Jewish General Hospital, the Clinical Research Coordinator/Research Assistant will perform duties associated with the day-to-day management of thrombosis clinical trials and observational studies conducted at the JGH site. This will involve recruitment and follow-up of patients, record keeping, and communications with the central study site, adhering to principles of good clinical practice (GCP).

The ideal candidate holds at a minimum an undergraduate or higher degree in health-related field and must have work experience in clinical research that involves direct patient contact (do not apply if you lack this experience).

Full-time Research Assistant for the DEPRESSD and COVID-19 LSR Projects

Full-time Study Coordinator

The DEPRESsion Screening Data (DEPRESSD) Project (https://www.depressd.ca), a collaborative endeavor set up by Drs. Brett Thombs and Andrea Benedetti, who partnered with local and international experts to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of depression screening tools by conducting individual participant data meta-analyses (IPDMAs), is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join the team. The tasks of the Analytical Research Coordinator will include reviewing scientific publications and screening articles for eligibly as part of the systematic review process; extracting published results based on pre-developed coding manuals; basic data analysis, including transforming raw participant data into a uniform format for use in the project, based on existing codebooks; verifying that data submitted to the project can be used to replicate the results from the original studies; and contributing to drafting manuscripts for publication.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or other relevant field. Research experience in the health sciences, including data management, evidence synthesis and manuscript writing is an asset.

Full-time Junior Engineer - Artificial Intelligence

Full-time Study Coordinator

The laboratory of Dr. Alan Spatz in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University and located at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research of the Jewish General Hospital is currently seeking a talented engineer to join an exciting research project. This position will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to drive innovation and make a real-world impact in the healthcare system. The engineer will help shape our AI strategy to predict early-stage clinical treatment, survival of the patient, clinical cancer diagnostic, personalized medicine for cancer patients and help pathologists to provide results quicker by using patient’s digital tissue information. This position will use ML to develop new applications and algorithms to guide and achieve this goal with the help of digital tissue section images of different type of cancers and clinical information of the patient. Developed algorithms will be used in the clinic as a diagnostic tool showing the potential of AI to support the healthcare system.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Computer Science or any other applicable field (Data Science, Bioinformatics or related field) and has 1-2 years’ experience minimum experience as an AI Engineer or ML learning in a similar role.

Part-time Research Coordinator

The Research Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting a federally funded research project on scaling up point-of-care hepatitis C testing and treatment in Canada. The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the project, coordinate research activities, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a national initiative with a strong focus on equity and innovation in healthcare delivery.

The Research Coordinator’s main tasks include coordinating submissions to and communications with Research Ethics Boards (REBs); managing research activities, including participant recruitment, data collection, and data management across multiple provinces and; developing and maintaining study protocols, standard operating procedures, and training materials for point-of-care hepatitis C testing and treatment. The ideal candidate holds  a degree and licensure to practice in a healthcare-related profession (e.g., RN),  and/or a master’s degree (completed or near completion) in Public Health, Health Services Research, Nursing, or a related field and has at least 1 year of experience in research assistantship or research coordination, preferably in healthcare or implementation science.

Full-time Post-doctoral Fellow - Translational research on gynecological cancers

Full-time Study Coordinator

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will play a key role in the design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of projects and their results aimed at improving precision oncology in the field of gynecological cancers. They will actively contribute to projects involving wet lab (preclinical studies/models, cell culture, animal studies) and dry lab (cancer genomics and pathology) studies. Through these contributions, the Postdoctoral Fellow will gain experience in conducting biomedical studies as well as participatory research with collaborators. Duties/responsibilities include working directly with the lab head(s) to design, develop and execute bench experiments; leading individual and collaborative projects; and analyzing and synthesizing experimental results autonomously (tables, figures, etc.) to derive scientific conclusions.

The ideal candidate will have: a PhD with a background in biomedical/epigenetic/immunology sciences, or a related field: essential wet lab skills such as cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, Western blotting, immunostaining, etc.; and extensive experience with in vitro assays.
