Professor
François Béland is the Head of the Research Axis on Health Services
at the Lady Davis Institute of the Jewish General Hospital, in
Montreal. He has been actively involved for nearly 30 years in
research in social gerontology, use and costs of health and social
services, and program evaluation. He is currently full professor in
the Department of Health Administration, Faculty of Medicine,
University of Montreal, and Associate Professor in the Department of
Geriatrics, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. He is Co-Director
of the McGill University/University of Montreal Research Group on
Frailty and Aging (SOLIDAGE). He is also a member of the Public
Health Research Institute of the University of Montreal. He is
currently Senior Editor of Politiques de santé - Healthcare
Policies. He developed an expertise on the analysis of public
spending on health and has been involved in public debates on the
future financing of health services.

Research Activities
François
Béland has been actively involved for nearly 30 years in research in
social gerontology, use and costs of health and social services, and
program evaluation. He has led a number of research projects in
Quebec, Canada, and other countries. In particular, he was one of the
main key players responsible for the design, implementation and
evaluation of the demonstration project of an integrated system of
services for the elderly (SIPA). He currently holds a grant from the
CIHR Research Team on frailty in the elderly and the evolution in use
and costs of services for the elderly. He has published over 150
research articles in peer-reviewed journals, twenty book chapters and
presented over 300 papers at scientific conferences.
