The McGill University Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics and Mental Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences invite applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Research) in the general area of molecular neurobiology in health and disease. The position is based at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI), Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This position will be a part of the Ludmer Centre Single-Cell Genomics Brain Initiative in partnership with the Douglas Mental Health Institute, the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro) and the LDI/JGH. This will be a three year renewable Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The successful candidate will be an emerging research leader launching independent research programs focused on fundamental neurobiology, including but not limited to, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and brain disorders/diseases including brain tumors.
The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology; they will be expected to demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm, and excellence in research. The incumbent will also be expected to establish and carry out an innovative and externally funded research program that integrates with existing strengths within the LDI and the Department. The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). They will also be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate classroom-based teaching.

Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within a few years of appointment is preferred.

The McGill University Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Mark Wainberg Centre for Viral Diseases in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Research) in the general area of fundamental immunology. The position is based at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research (LDI), Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This is a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The successful applicant is expected to establish and maintain a productive independent research program that aims to understand and discover mitigating strategies of viral diseases through elucidating the complex host responses to viral infections, which may include but not be limited to:
He/she will also be expected to establish and carry out an innovative and externally funded research program that integrates with existing strengths within the LDI and the Department Microbiology and Immunology; to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, and involvement in academic and administrative committees); to contribute to undergraduate and graduate classroom-based teaching; and demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Dr. Michael Goldfarb, a critical care cardiologist and researcher at the Lady Davis Institute, is looking for a part-time Research Assistant. Among other projects, Dr. Goldfarb is looking to validate a novel tool to measure family engagement in the intensive care unit (FAME), as well as assess the feasibility of virtual family participation in adult ICU rounds (VR-Family). The ideal candidate is a bilingual, organized, approachable and independent individual capable of carrying out successful recruitment of participants for trials.
Salary: $22 to $26 per hour according to qualifications and expertise
Hours: 20 hours per week (~4 hours/day, 5 days/week) – Negotiable
Duration of contract: 6-months, with possibility of renewal
Starting date: Immediately
